Stone Crown Challenge

CONGRATULATIONS to Hilary & David F and Pat S & Colin Mc on winning the 2025 Stone Crown Challenge.

On Sunday we welcomed teams from Barthomley, Betley, Leek, Stafford, Stonefield Park, Trentham and Weston (White Lion) for this year’s Stone Crown Challenge, which pits two mixed pairs from each club against each other.

With heavy rain forecast, the decision to reduce games from eleven to nine ends was welcomed by all of the clubs and although some of the later games were played in light showers, bowling was completed before the heavy rain fell. The competition was closely fought as always. Leek finished in second place and our own team won the Challenge Trophy for the very first time.

Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our members and our guests the day raised a very impressive £240 for the President’s Charity.

The whole day was a great success and we received several very favourable comments from visiting clubs about the organisation and the condition of the green.
Days like this depend on the work of so many people from the club, both on the day and beforehand.
